It will include an opportunity to trek mountain gorillas, visiting one of the habituated gorillas groups in Uganda and Rwanda. Remember that there are approximated 880 mountain Gorillas remaining in the world and these can only be seen in these two countries, trekking the golden Monkeys as well as visiting Dian Fossey’s grave

Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival, transfer to Volcanoes National Park

When you arrive at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by our safari guide from Appetite for Adventure. From here he will transfer you to Volcanoes National Park a drive that takes approximately four hours. Along the way you will enjoy a lot of sightseeing and if lucky see some of the volcano peaks as you drive through the rolling countryside perfect for photography.

In the park, you will check into your accommodation where you will have your dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking adventure in Rwanda

Gorilla trekking is one of the most thrilling activities you can enjoy while on safari in Rwanda. Today you will have breakfast very early in the morning, and then our safari guide will drive you to the headquarters of the park where you will be briefed before starting on this thrilling activity at around 8:00am. Along the trek in the forest park you will enjoy exciting views of the nearby volcanoes, and encounter a number of monkeys, birds and if lucky see some elephants.  You will be allowed to spend one hour with the gorillas once you find them, observing, taking photos and recording videos.

After trekking you will return to your lodge and relax. Remember that some gorilla groups are more challenging to trek and the activity may take longer hours. Dine and spend the night at you lodge.

Day 3: Golden- monkey Trekking, or Optional Visit to Dian Fossey tomb

Toda is another fascinating day as you will meet the playful golden monkeys. You will have an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the golden monkey tracking activity. These monkeys are very exciting and interesting to watch in their natural habitat. Alternatively you may choose to visit the orphanage founded by Ross Carr and Lake Kivu, or hike the volcanoes of Mount Bisoke or mount Muhabura or visit the nearby community school and interact with the locals living around this park or simply stroll to Lake Bulera. Dine and overnight at your accommodation

Day 4: Visit Dian Fossey’s Tomb and Cross to Uganda

After breakfast there will be an optional walk to the grave of Dian Fossey, alternatively you may decide to spend the morning hours relaxing at your accommodation. after lunch you will drive and cross into Uganda where you will dine and spend the night.

Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

Early morning after breakfast you will head out into the forest and trek the gorillas living in Bwindi National park. After the trek, there will be an optional Batwa cultural experience during which you will be entertained. You will later return for dinner and the overnight at your accommodation

Day 6: Transfer to Kampala, Departure

Today is the final day of our safari. After breakfast, transfer to Kampala or head to Entebbe international airport for your departure flight. This will be the end of 6 Days Gorilla Trekking Rwanda & Uganda
